Since 1986, Camp Leatherwood has been a gathering place for youth to learn more about Christ and experience fellowship with other Christians and their peers. Located just 30 minutes west of Nashville, Tennessee, the camp hosts thousands of young people each year for summer camps from June – August.
In February 2016, Camp Leatherwood’s Mosley Dining Hall was destroyed by fire as a result of a strong storm that blew through Dickson County in the early morning hours. Since that fire, camps have continued to meet under the “Big Tent” temporarily placed on the old concrete pad of the former dining hall. Now, Camp Leatherwood is ready to rebuild. Our board of directors, who represent all the congregations that utilize the camp, have met, prayed and made the best possible decision for the future of Camp Leatherwood.
The Rebuild plan is coming in phases, the first being the reconstruction of the on-site cooking and dining facilities, office area and restrooms. The new facility is being built to all applicable codes (most of which did not exist in 1986 when the camp first opened), and will provide an incredibly safe and sound structure for camp participants in the event of unpredictable weather, in addition to opening the camp for potential year-round use as it will be both heated and cooled.
We ask for your prayers that we may continue to seek God’s will for Camp Leatherwood and, if you are so led, your donations to help us rebuild Camp Leatherwood Lodge.
